In 2001 MUNSO received a $4,000 Pennsylvania Compact Service Learning Integration Grant for Model United Nations training and materials. Globalizations and The United Nations was first offered as a Seminar course on the United Nations, in the fall. Issues Before the United Nations was offered Spring semester 2002 for the first time.
On March 22nd, 2002 a Model UN conference was held at the Kehr Union Ballroom. Students from Berwick, Danville and Southern High Schools participated in the all day conference. This was the first of the annual conferences that have been held at Bloomsburg University.
Fall semester 2002 offered Globalizations and the United Nations as a course. The class participated in a Security Council Demonstration in which area high schools were invited to view. Dr. Agbango was the first Keynote speaker and the discussion for the day was on the War with Iraq. In the Spring Issues Before the United Nations was offered again as a seminar course.
The second BUMUN conference took part in April and Berwick, Benton, Millville, Northwest and Southern High School's participated in the conference. The keynote speaker was Dr. Schloss.
During the 2003-2004 academic year the club grew substantially. In the fall another Security Council stimulation took place. In the spring discussion on a trip to Harvard National Model UN Conference was brought up within the organization.
On April 20th 2004 BUMUN III took place in the Kehr Union Ballroom with students from Benton, Berwick, Central, Millville, Northwest, and Southern High School's participating.
Issues before the United Nations was now offered in the fall semester of 2004. On December 1st the Security Council Stimulation took place.
On April 19th 2005 BUMUN IV took part discussing human cloning law and human rights and counter-terrorism. Students from Berwick, Southern, and Central participated in this conference. Dan Knorr, a BUMUNSO member, and a student running for town council was the keynote speaker.
11 Students, as well as Dr. Zoelle and Jean Downing traveled to Boston in February to attend the Harvard Conference. It was a big success and has raised awareness of the Model UN within the academic setting of Bloomsburg. The group represented Nicaragua on this trip.
MUNSO became involved with "The People Speak" in fall 2005. Weekly discussions were held with Dr. Zoelle's Globalization class conducting conversations on key events in the world that effect the US. Many other classes came to the discussions, which was open to the public. MUNSO received $500 from thepeoplespeak.org in a grant to put on these discussions.
In October, BUMUNSO met with High school students to discuss the future of the program and their intake on it. Much fun was had. We also opened the program to Millsville and Bloomsburg high schools.
November 30 2005 was the date of the Security Council Simulation, area schools were invited to come and watch the progress of the SC.
